Face Off s11e05  Troubling Transformations  21 February 2017

Last time on Face Off the
artists created snow queens.

Emily & Tyler won the challenge.

Cat & Niko were eliminated.

The remaining artists meet up with host McKenzie Westmore in the lab/work room.

“This is how I decorated my bedroom.
I sleep on a mad scientist's table.”

For the “Immunity” Spotlight Challenge, they will be inspired by films such as Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, The Fly and The Incredible Hulk.  Each team will choose an experiment gone wrong.   They’re to create 2 characters, the scientist before, and then after the transformation.   It’s a standard 3-day challenge.

Keaghlan & Melissa choose “Insect DNA Splicing.”

George & Cig grab “Medical Augmentation.”

Adam & Logan find “Radiation Exposure.”

Evan & Ben take “Chemical Exposure.”

Rachael & Gage select “Horticultural Hybridization.”

“That’ll be the best one.”

Emily & Tyler get “Electrical Shock.”

“I feel like I'm building my dream man.”

"Emily, if you’re getting an edit, it better be the Winner’s Edit."

“You do realize that no one is going home this episode, right?’

Rachael doesn’t like what Gage sculpts.   She changes the nose.  Hmmmm.

Soon enough Mr. Westmore breezes by.

“It’s not soon enough!”

He steers Ben & Evan towards air brushing.
Don’t the artists general do that all the time?

He tells Keaghlan & Melissa to go bigger with the site injections.

He likes Cig & George’s direction with
the bone spurs.   He wants more of them.

He advises Gage & Rachael on
how far, or not, to take their ideas.

“I have to get more air time.”

On day two Cig & George get
the “I can’t open my mold” edit

"It’s a plaster disaster!"

Yeah, but after the commercial break it’s just fine.
Well, it’s not perfect, but it’s usable.

Emily is prepainting on day two.  E&T, they're the dream team, eh?

Oh, Adam & Logan are preprinting, too.

On day three Cig & George are worried
about not painting quickly enough.

Melissa is unhappy with her paint job.

George seems stressed during last looks.
Evan isn’t happy with his work.

Joining host McKenzie Westmore on the reveal stage are regular judges Glenn Hetrick, Ve Neill and Neville Page, and also guest judge John Landis (Animal House, Thriller, An American Werewolf In London.)

Ben & Evan
Chemical Exposure
Adam & Logan
Radiation Exposure

Keaghlan & Melissa
Insect DNA Splicing

Emily & Tyler
Electrical Shock

Cig & George
Medical Augmentation

Gage & Rachael
Horticultural Hybridization

During their closer inspection, the judges seem to hate almost everything, for one reason or another.  Well, except for Glenn's hair style showing up on Cig & George's work.   Ha!

McKenzie calls out Emily & Tyler, Keaghlan & Melissa, Ben & Evan, and Adam & Logan as the best and the worst. The others are safe middle, and head out back to the Last Looks waiting room.

Keaghlan & Melissa’s color palate is problematic to Glenn Hetrick.  Ve doesn’t know what to focus on, and it’s too muddy.  John Landis likes the turquoise color.

Emily & Tyler are praised by Ve.  She admires the paint work and the vision.  Neville doesn’t mind that they went subtle.  John thinks it is beautiful, both far away and close up.

Ben & Evan’s paint job fails them, per Neville.  He questions their sculpting choices on both models.  Glenn wants boils, doesn’t see them.   The color work is lacking says Ve.

John loves Adam & Logan’s work, especially the first model.  Glenn likes their thought process, and their attention to detail.  Neville also admires their point of view regarding the design.

Top two are clearly Adam & Logan,

and Emily & Tyler.

I would guess that Ben & Evan were worse than

Keaghlan & Melissa, but both were bottom two.

Glenn proclaims Emily & Tyler the winning team.  They earn immunity for the next challenge.

“I was getting the Winner Edit, after all.”

And that’s it!

Next time:  An overgrown vehicle is inspiration?

I guess that’s better than a Smart car.
